Hey guys,

My friend and fellow rider Chicken Boy is desperately in need of some forks.

He has a complete entry level Eastern that cost him 2 months wages of selling t-shirts from about 5am/6am to 4pm every day.

The kid's good and he is super dedicated. He rides with the crew in the capital from 5pm to 10pm every single day and always has new tricks to show - he thinks that he is not very good but he can do a peg wheelie to backyard so I think he is crazy to think that...

His forks are cracked and even though the bike shop told him that he could have a six month warranty on any parts breaking they are now telling him that he was obviously involved in some kind of road accident.

It's Vietnam and nobody wants to help anybody but they want everything for nothing themselves. It's the rat race - changing societies have their winners and losers. I told him that I would help him get some forks - I'm his only way to get forks actually. It is not possible for him to get any A-headset BMX forks in Vietnam and he can't afford anything from overseas and post goes missing frequently anyway. Someone stole my God damned Tim Tams!!!

What I'm looking for is somebody to sell me or donate him some second hand forks that are chromoly. I'm not worried about weight - I'm thinking about getting something that will last a kid who rides 5 hours everyday a long time. It would be nice if they were flatland forks but I'm open to any forks right now. They don't need to have lugs but if they do then that's fine.

I can collect them at DUG Sydney or arrange postage to Jen's parents house. Like I said I don't mind paying and don't expect everything for nothing. Let me know what you've got. I'll be looking at getting some more parts for a couple of the other riders too shortly such as decent bars and a frame.

I'm looking at sustaining this scene. Next week I will go to the city to shoot some pictures, make a short video and teach the kids how to look after their bikes and keep their wheels trued.

i still have your old inertia forks!
they're with Tomo at the moment cause i sold them to him aaaggges back and i was going to buy them back off him.
it's only going to cost $20.... i was thinking maybe $10 each?
but if i have a job by then than i'll get it off tomo myself to help him out.

and picking it up at DUG sydney sounds great!!! [Image Can Not Be Found] [Image Can Not Be Found]

That sounds good Fritz. Have a word with Tomasz. I emailed him a while ago but he hasn't got back yet. He has a bit of a love hate internet relationship...

Hey Fritz,

If it's $20 I will pay for all of it no worries.

Everybody else: Are there any other forks available for sale??? I can't afford this deal not to come off so I need backup. If I go back to Vietnam with two pairs of forks then it's no big loss. Another equally deserving riding will get sorted.

Got plans sorted to head to the capital this weekend and shoot some photos of the crew and make a short video so everyone can see how it goes down here. The situation isn't quite as bad as the Phillipines as Vietnam borders with China and there are plenty of bikes around. Mostly they are shitty Chinese BMX's for sale at ridiculous prices though. They probably do more harm than good!

Thanks Shaun,

Just give me a heads up on anything you think might be useful.

Spoke to Chicken Boy today - He said he's gonna enter the Global-Flat online battles which is good.

You can count me in too Paul. [Image Can Not Be Found] The stuff I've been collecting is for the Filipino online battles, so I don't have alot of spares, but I always come by stuff. I'll keep my eyes and ears open. Just let us know the updates. [Image Can Not Be Found]

I have a pair you can have. 14mm dropouts, 25mm offset, full cromo, no mounts (ground off).

If you want them let me know where to send them.

Thanks Karl - I figured that you would be in re. our conversation a while back. I know about the online battles. No.1 priority is to sustain those and make sure they are a success.

So an update,

Thanks for the forks Ali - they are currently sitting in Sydney waiting for me. Thanks a lot!!! What goes around comes around for real!!! Very happy.

Also getting my old Inertia forks back from Fritz/Tomasz which is great. Many riders in need here.

Currently looking for:

[b:1qjv8oqu]Bars[/b:1qjv8oqu] - Any chromoly bars really because the guys here replace their cheap steel bars every few weeks right now and have to cut them super short to prevent bending. Word - they don't even need barends because the bars are done before they get sharp!!!
***Best scenario is: flatland bars that are quite low because these guys are fairly short***

[b:1qjv8oqu]Stem[/b:1qjv8oqu] - A short stem to go with the minimal offset forks for chicken's bike. Are any of those Odyssey stems kicking around still?
***The is a bit of a luxury but what the hell - build the house one brick at a time***

Any other small parts welcome too. Of course - money is involved if you've got something you can't afford to part with for free. No problems there at all.

This is just the start - many more developments as soon as I get my own computer from Oz. Ben Moran is also coming to 'nam for an adventure so he'll be (un)willingly couriering the next shipment!!!

i havent riden flat in a while and have kind of forgoten it's common geometry...
but still have the bars i used for flatland.

they're volume v6 bars.
butted chromo.
6" backsweep.
? upsweep.
But they're only 23" wide....is that too short?

if you want them you can have them. nothing special but i remember it felt good for me back then.

actually to think about it, i actually prefered these bars over my StMartin ange2's...so they're good. and yeah, have them.

Did you get the bars you were after?

I have a spair set, they were Ben's old ones (the green ones), I was going to use them on a ghetto bike but I can't be fucked now (partly 'cos I have no forks <!-- sWink --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" title="Wink" /><!-- sWink --> ), you are welcome to them, let me know and I'll try and get them to one of the locals going up.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the support. I've written a report from my trip to Saigon last weekend with a few pics. Badman should drop it some time in the next day or two probably. As you may already know Ben is heading out here on the 7th of September from Perth.

Because Ben can carry some stuff out here I'm looking to get some parts sent to Shaun's place in Perth so he can pick them up.

What I need most is a stem and pedals for Chicken. Like always if you've got something that you don't want to part with for free I'll pay. Getting him a stem is priority no.1 right now. Pedals he can manage with 1 and a half for a while.

Any other parts considered too - there are plenty in need. If I can get more than 1 stem that would be good. Barends too. Grips. 10mm to 14mm conversion washers...

Headset spacers are another very important thing that they can't get ahold of. Let me know what you've got and how much you want for it if it's something decent that you don't want to give away.

Like I said - Let me know what you've got lying around and I'll take it.

Ali - Didn't reply to that last past - didn't see it sorry. I already got bars from Fritz at DUG Sydney. Chicken's running them now. He's got your forks on too!!!

Much obliged people!

Paul

Yeah - that message is kinda long:

[b:wny1azq4]Desperately need a STEM and some PEDALS for Chicken Boy.[/b:wny1azq4]

Payment for - or donation. Let me know what you've got and we'll get it sent to Shaun. Don't feel bad about asking for payment at all - I just want to get Chicken a stem and work out a deal that everybody is happy with.

Cheers,

Paul

I'm sure I have some pedals lying around, Paul. I have some KHE Stimulatorz with titanium spindles. The spindles are slightly bent, but, but definitely useable. I'm pretty sure I have some new pedals sitting around, though. I'll look tomorrow morning after work.

I also have a stem. It's not a flat specific one, tho. I won it at the Games. I think it's a B-Stem, probably has a reach of about 35-40mm if I remember correctly. I'll check it out also, tomorrow.

Both are free, so I'll pass it on to Shaun if u think u can use them..? I won't be making it to Brizzy, so he can take them there for u if u can talk him into it [Image Can Not Be Found]

Hey man,

Let me know what you've got to flow and we'll decide what can be 'flown' here - Do you like that one? Weigh Ben's bags, check his limit and stack up his hand luggage. We'll all be there to meet him at the airport so it's no biggie...

Cool cool cool. Seriously - If you've got a lot of stuff to flow send me an email and we'll talk about what's highest priority mate.
