Check this. Not only do stock Tanakas vary in steerer length, {all Tanakas are said to have 175mm steerers, this is uncut at 165mm}, but the distance between the axle slot and the fork crown race varies also, which in turn affects hta slightly.
I'm not complaining, just surprised. [Image Can Not Be Found] Left one has 175mm steerer, right has 165mm.

[quote="Michal":oxe4ucjq]Now thats interesting! I assume they're both not from the same year of production, but if they've always been advertised with 175mm steerer tube, its a noodle scratcher! Is there a standard frork crown race-to-drop out length, or are they allowed to vary?[/quote:oxe4ucjq]
The standard is meant to be around 310mm plus or minus a few mm I believe.
That is from the race to the dead centre of the axle slammed. Not from the race to the highest point of the axle slot.
The silver pair are right on and the raw pair are 320mm, about 10mm higher than normal which can slacken your hta by up to one degree. Again, nothing to worry about, but surprising nonetheless.
