Just a couple of random photos of the Polish Perve himself. Got myself a new camera and popped it's cherry earlier tonight with Tomas pulling some new shit and wanted to share with all the late-night lurkers.

Looking focused as hell and kind of scary. Pity I caught the flash in the corner.

Mid switch from cross-foot backpacker into hiker. Or it might have been regular backpacker into x-foot hiker. I can't really recall. Either way, it's nuts.

[quote="rully":271366nm]did you use the stock lens that came with it in box?
[/quote:271366nm]
That was one of my other questions, what lense are you using? And did you do any editing or is that the original coulour?
Edit: Alright , I think I did the same thing Todd did; 15mm focal point, thats a wide ass lense. Are Nikon pictures always that smooth with a 400 ISO?

I got it from: http://stores.ebay.com/Cameta-Camera
I got a D200 body, 18-55, 28-80, 15-30, 4gb CF card, SB600 and SB800 flashes, tripod and bag. I also got a cheap, third-party battery grip from another website.
If anyone's looking at getting some gear, this is the place to get it from. I've bought two cameras with lenses and stuff from them now. They're American, but they're cheap as fuck and they won't screw you around.
[img:1lbaktb1]http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k226/cosmic_burrito/sigma_15-30mm.jpg[/img:1lbaktb1]
I got this one for $260, compared to about $750 in Australia.
This is the lens I used for these shots. It's a Sigma 15-30mm.
I only got a couple of good ones from this outing. They were all on 400, but in retrospect, I probably should have pushed the ISO up a bit, maybe to 640 or 800.
They were shot in RAW, so other than bringing out the shadows, highlights, etc, the only thing I did was to get rid of a lens flare near the flash in the first one. The colours are as-shot, no saturation adjustments. I usually don't like doing too much to them apart from the sort of things you can do in a darkroom, like dodging and burning, or contrast adjustments.

Postage is really good. I can't recall exactly how much but it was around $150-200 for everything: camera, 3 lenses, 2 speedlight, bag and tripod.
The painful part is customs. They charge something like 10% for import tax on camera stuff over a certain value, $1000 I think. It's still shitloads cheaper than getting it here, though.
It's sort of a catch-22, because if you're getting a lot of stuff you can get it bundled to save on shipping, but you'll pay more at customs. But if you have stuff sent separately you might avoid some of the customs fees, but you'll pay more for shipping. It's probably about the same either way.
