my friend is seriously interested in getting a street bike for himself and has a $400 budget, so i went with him to strictlybmx to check out their bikes in that price range.

http://www.strictlybmx.com/product/view ... -2011-bike

this one seemed the best out of the $400 range, because unlike others with the same or lower price range, this has a cromo down-tube..
this one also seems tempting because its RRP $500 but its being sold for $350, but honestly don't think its worth the original $500 because its like 100% hi-ten except for the headtube, (as opposed to the previous bike which has a cromo downtube):

the others are shit for price because they are 100% hi-ten and 11kgs (including rear brakes) which is abit dodgyy imo

(rant) i'd rather he didn't spend too much money on something in case bmx isn't his thing (i made sure he knows that anything below $800 would probably break after about a few months of use, but he was cool with that). honestly i reckon hi-ten steel is enough especially for someone who hasn't ridden a bmx before and wants to try out (yes, he has tried - and likes - riding my bike, but i still want to get him a good bike and there isn't any australian bikes on ebay that are under like frikken $1k and those that are have 4+bids on them andicantbestuffed

im gonna post this up on the other forum, but it'd be nice to get an opinion from here as well [Image Can Not Be Found]

Maybe out of the price range, but if he likes riding, it's one he'll of a deal.

I'm not too sure about completes and info though, I'll post something if I read anything anywhere

Apart from FVLT being trendy as fuck, I'd tell you to go for that one. It seems fairly decent, and has a sealed back hub which the Kink doesn't.

I wouldn't be too fussy about the frame material though for a beginner bike. It's not like they do too much gnarly shit anyway - I guess they hack a bit though..

Knowing other bike riders will help him out a bunch if he does break anything, snag him somebodies old frame etc etc.

Militia stocks the best of american. Probably wouldnt recommend for a beginner though, price wise.

yeah my friend got the $400 cult bike. although his bike is lighter than his old mtb its still heavier than my bmx so i give him shit for it ^_^ He likes it and he learnt how to bunny hop in his runners in like 2 minutes which is pretty awesome because it took me 1 hour i think lol but (like me) he lifts both the front and back wheel up at the same time.. i also gave him four of my spare pegs

and from what hes told me he's already gone 20kms on it LOL and hes smart cause he wears a helmet

anyway thanks for the advice
