I just wanted to suggest an idea for DUG Melburn.
Is there any way we could bring an international pro rider out for DUG?
If we could find 20 riders willing to commit $50 then we'd have $1000.
Contact Ares / KHE / St Martin or a rider we know directly, and put the offer on the table. (DUG can contribute $1000 towards an airfare to bring someone down under.)
It would be wise to get Simon or Shane's input as to who we approach (as they would have relationships with riders / know who would be best to bring out). It wouldn't be worth it to bring out a rider who is going to ride for 20 min at the main jam / comp and then disappears or just sticks to themselves (no matter how good they are).
I'd want a rider who's down to ride at the warm up sessions and main event and who's cool to hang out and would want to know AUS riders.
I have a contact with the company who's taken over distro of KHE in Australia. They are bringing in Adam Kun's bike and flat parts. Maybe there could be some sort of promo tour hooked up where AUS riders up and down the east coast could provide free accommodation.

I've had a word with Simon and Shane to get their opinion. Both are going to think about it.
I've sent an initial proposal to one pro rider.
One other Sydney rider is willing to commit $50 so I guess including Karl and myself we're up to $150 - 15% of the target.
If you're willing to chip in $50 and / or can provide accommodation for a pro rider for a few days in Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane please make it known.

I'd commit to the cause once I know the date of the comp and find out whether I can make it or not. I missed out on seeing Jessie P. all those years ago, man it'd be fun to ride with that guy. The evening shenanigans would be great, too.
It'd be cool to have a big night out on the Friday, jam on Saturday then comp on Sunday.

I have received a response. The rider has just returned from JomoPro and will send me a reply once they have had time to think about it.
A couple of the Sydney riders have also indicated a commitment of some $$.

Watching Jesse ride was / is amazing. He was really cool and got busy the whole time. Part of the reason why it was so dope having Jesse at Sydney was that I didn't know he was coming. I showed up at the Olympic site and there's Jesse Puente - Rad!
I suppose because that was such a fantastic experience that's contributing to trying to get a rider out for DUG Melbourne 2012.
