I concur, although I havent got a cough. Melbourne it will be.[/quote:25pcdb72]

are you gonna come dave?[/quote:25pcdb72]

Late reply, but probably not. BMX for me has lost its luster the past couple years. Hence the reason for handing over the site and no longer contributiong to 2020.

email from Scott O'Brien

re flatland world circuit

Shaun,

After talking with a panel of Flatlanders. It would be very difficult to include you guys. Why. Well first of all riders from Australia do not travel to any of the BMFWC events. SO its unfair to the riders that buy plane tickets and such to have to go all the way there if your riders are not traveling back.

It does not make much sense at this point to do it. While you may benefit and draw international riders to your event the Circuit will not benefit because riders will have to travel to Australia. And as you know sponsorships are few so riders pay for there own travel.

We will try for 2 Europe 2 North America and 2 Asia. So the rider will only have to leave their region for one contest. I do hope that we can get involved at some point I just think it would stretch things out too much at this early stage in the Circuit. So please stay in touch and lets hope for a future.

thanks

(well it was worth a try to get some of that here if ya know what i mean, that reply only took about 4 months to get a decision)

hummm,

i could have told you that would have been the response, australia is in the same class as mexico, brizil, nigira and laos when it comes to flatland. that is to say a third world back water that very few riders would come too even if we offered a million$$ purse at an event. i mean the bmxgames have run for 5 years yet only 3 international riders have bothered to make the trip in the middle of thier winter. yet on top of all of this australia still punchs above its class on the two fronts of quality of rider when compared to the total number of riders in the country and number of riders per head of popluation.

i should also add a "world circuit" is not really a world circuit if it only hits up three countries in the northern hemisphere. i get thier point but i also think they are taking the easy way out. this event isnt about an inclusive, progressive global scene, it's about giving cash to the usual suspects. i mean all they are trying to do is copy what surfing did 30 years ago, wow cutting edge!

you know i also found thier response really patronizing. i mean, the riders have to treavel? no shit, what does he think any oz rider has to do if he (or she) wants to compeate in a comp that isnt the baxgames, and thats a really lame execuse "riders from Australia do not travel to any of the BMFWC events" the things only been running for ONE YEAR, riders have been to the events that make up the tour before, just not last year and perhaps not voodoo jam.

what we should do is put together our own "world circuit" during our summer have events in austraila, new zealand and indonesia and call it "the REAL flatland world circuit" seeings how our dollar is going to be worth more compared to most other currencies in the world, thanks mostly to WA's mining boom.

i fucking hate imposed class systems by bogans from failing nation states.
