The reCAPTCHA mod for phpBB is a really quick and easy install and makes nearly all the SPAM go away.

Whilst the suggestion to implement reCAPTCHA is positive; unfortunately Captcha solutions pose problems in that they can drive away legitimate users. In specific, the Google reCaptcha solution is notorious for this. The problem with reCAPTCHA is that it's pretty difficult to use for end readers - it takes multiple attempts just to solve/read. While not perfect, reCaptcha blocks the majority of spam and is easy to install.

An off topic note:
The loss of the other valuable content in this thread was an accident - I thought that I had duplicated the thread and now realise that whatever I did didn't work. Whilst your out there searching for the lost gospel, Atlantis and the Tasmanian Tiger please have a look around for the lost postings of Ali, Jim, Ryan and Sean.
Keep it on topic please. There are PM's for verbal assaults if necessary.
Cheers,
Paul

Signing up once to this forum is near impossible and extremely frustrating - it is not merely a couple of attempts. We do not need such a difficult Captcha system on the forum - it turns away potential new users. It took me more than 15 minutes to solve numerous Captcha
