Ok ladies,

I know there is a lot of spamming crap that happens every now and then, I'm not being lazy by not deleting them, I'm just having some issues logging into the Admin panel with the work firefox browser. It seems to work fine with Internet explore though.

Just exercise some self control and don't click any links these bots post, cool yeah?

So when I get home in my lunch break, a mass deletion will occur. So rest assured, [Image Can Not Be Found]

Admin approved sign ups flooded my inbox

Just "Report Post" if you come across any. this will make it A LOT easier to get them. This way I can go straight to the reported post, click on the spammers profile and ban/delete all posts in one click.

I wondered what was going on. We had no spam for about a year or so, and now its back. Are there really that many new members joining up? Aren't most new members spammers? How do you differentiate between a spammer and a genuine newb?

Ali. Love the avatar. Equally funny is your Sequence/Leggo picture on the blog. [Image Can Not Be Found]

Karl, there has been spammers all the time, it's just that most are caught before most users realise. I could estimate since the 'admin approval' thing has been dropped, (on average) I have deleted one spammer on a weekly basis. That's just ONE user... Most spammers hit up at least three posts or so. So those have to go as well.

Most of the ones I get to catch before work, but I've set up an explorer window (exclusively for flatlandaustralia) so I can easily log into the admin section (where I work) so I can get to it. Firefox has some serious hassles doing this.

So appologies for the late takeup on a lot of this. It shouldn't be much of a problem from now on hopefully on my end.

A genuine flatland noob will basically ask something or state something... almost bike related, within reason.

Anyone that posts a disguised link in their first thread, and then does the exact same in his next random placed post or constantly raves on about viagra, world of warcraft, porn, knock off handbags... or whatever... is a spammer.. so boom. they are deleted.

Gotta catch em' all!

Again, don't post in threads about them. I don't check every thread.
If you simply click report post by clicking this icon [img:xj999e1r]https://www.flatlandaustralia.com/forums/styles/subsilver2/imageset/en/icon_post_report.gif[/img:xj999e1r] myself and the other admins will get a PM about it and we can go from there. It is a lot easier and a lot quicker.

And [size=150:xj999e1r][b:xj999e1r]DO NOT[/b:xj999e1r][/size:xj999e1r] reply to them. They will see that as activity and come back for more.
