Just a few quick words about the Victorian Institute of Flatland, Open Day event we had on Sunday the 26th of June (which was over a week ago! Sorry, booze, pot and chicks - you know how it is). I won’t waste everyone’s time and bandwidth with a blow by blow account of what happened, read to the end to find out how and when that’s gonna go down (What I have done is slapped together some B-grade photos and a badly photo shopped group image for everyone’s viewing displeasure, see below).

Things I can reveal about that day include: 15+ flatlanders turned out to ride in the glorious winter sun at the IMAX spot in Carlton, also that there are a number of older riders that have started ground riding again and whoa, what a display of underground flat talent in Melbourne. In the end it was the old schoolers that picked up the goodies with Ben, Steve and bmxgames Am sixth place getter Karl taking home the major prize packs. Grant C and Kostas respectively took home the encouragement t-shirt awards. Everyone else got stickers!!! Loads of stickers!!!

The Vice Chancellor of the IVF has asked me to forward the following notes of appreciation: Major props go out to the guys who kicked in the proddy for the giveaway – Strictly BMX, Odyssey/BMX International and flatlandfuel.com, all the flow was really appreciated by the riders. Also, thanks to the event media partners - flatlandaustralia.com and the Melbourne flatland zine. Lastly, big thanks to all the riders and friends that showed up and made the day a huge success. It was a really cool day.

For blanket coverage of check out the next 2020/Reformist and the MFZ. Also be on the look out for a few snippets of video from the day in the next MFZ vid due out soon

Not sure when we’ll next put together a jam that involves creating a stupid name and poster but Melbourne’s usual suspects can be found on any given Sunday at the Melbourne Museum/ IMAX spot, Nicholson Street, Carlton.
