Trevor King showed up at Imax today and told us flatlanders are needed to do demos alongside motorbike stunt riders at the St Kilda festival next Sunday.
Minimum of 4 riders needed, and we have 3. The more, the better, so please participate. We don't get paid but who cares. We ride for the love of it anyways...
You can contact Trev on 0419 567 914.

Please post up here and let Trev know too. 8)

Thanx and cheers, Karl.

Does Trevor King get paid?

I did it last year to help Dinny out because it started to rain and the guys couldn't ride the jump box. That was for free because Dinny sorted us out with other demos that were paid and organised the BMX Games.

It's up to you guys - I would do it for free if it's a free public event that will help flatland in some way (which I think it is) - but if people are making money out of it then it's not cool to do it for free... It's exploitation!

if someone is contracted to organize an event and they are getting paid to do so then that money should also be give to the ones who are putting on the entertainment.

but sometimes the need to ride out ways the need to squabble about money.

i can guarantee that someone is getting paid.

not to start any issue here but i ran flatitude at a loss, i lost hundreds of dollars and i never complained because it was supporting the scene and the riders,
doing this is just apart of the growth, and if it gets any child/adult in the crowd interested in doing flatland then it's well worth it even if someone is getting $ out of it, we ride for the love of the sport not for the money or the glory.

remember guy's we are the older generation of flatlanders and we have always rode for free because we love it, riding anywhere no matter what spot it is! i will always ride for free.

when money is envolved it makes it alot different and takes the meaning out of riding.

I understand where Paul is coming from. If Trevor gets paid to get riders there, but not the actual riders, that aint cool.
Otherwise, by all means ride for free. Or ride for free anyway if you don't care. I'm of either opinion.

I put a demo together years ago for Flinders Uni year end concert thing they do and initially said we would do it for free. But Shane then advised me that we should take up the offer of payment. Merely as compensation for our time and expenses getting there. Even though I did get about 9 or 10 people in for free and only 2 actually rode that night and we got free drinks all night and got to see Testeagles and Grinspoon.

I agree with you Dave, people should get paid to see Grinspoon.

Look nobody in Australia rides flatland for money period.

All I'm saying is that you are going to put on a show in which almost all of the other people involved are getting paid - And it's going to be a bloody good show too! I did it last year for free but that was totally cool because I was doing it for somebody who at the time I believed was taking flatland somewhere great.

It's personal taste but I would ride for free at IMAX and have a good session without spectators. I don't really like putting on demos and riding infront of large crowds of people so I don't do it for nothing - That's not to say that I always get paid to do demos though. I do them when I think they are legit and will be good for our scene and flatland - For Dinny, for the Bike Film Festival etc.

Maybe it is selfish of me to want to ride for my own personal satisfaction alone most of the time. I don't know. Like I said, I would probably do it - Still wake up on Sunday morning and go and do it in the hope that one kid started riding flatland because of it.

I'm just sceptical though because the only other time in my life that I've seen Trevor King was when we got paid to do the Grand Prix demo. It's not as if he's at IMAX hanging out is it? Maybe I'm wrong - Maybe I'm being a dick - I just don't believe that he would have driven down to IMAX for free to round up some riders for the love of it..

Paul

Yeah - Basically I agree with Dave. I'm just saying it's not cool if Trevor gets paid which I believe he does.

Hey guys....

I agree somewhat with all of you..I dont give a shit about the money i would do it for the love of the sport. And if trevor does get paid for it who says he wont take you guys out later and shout you a couple of beers and a pizza for ya efforts..but even if he doesnt i dont think any of us would think any different of the bloke. Because we all ride because thats what makes us happy and feel alive..I dont know about you guys but deep down i would not care less if we get paid or not.But to only better the sport that we love..I would never even consider the word "Explotation" thats just way overboard...Think about it like this..If you feel that he is makeing money of you...u dont have to ride in the Event...And as for me guys i would love to ride with you guys in this Event but i too have my boy this weekend..So I might cruise down with Kylie and Max and check ya'all out Rip it up boys!!!..

either way it's promoting flatland and that's the biggest pay off in my eye's.

trevor can get paid $1000.00 for all i care, guy's dont let the money get envolved with your passion, we are a rare breed and money don't make the rider/rider's.

i asked trevor if we get paid and he looked at me with this impression Image so you tell me...:)

I don’t get out of bed for less than $1000 a day.

Or unless I’m getting my balls waxed. The wax ruins the sheets don’t you know.
